Birthday Self-image

Today's my birthday so I decided to be a little vain and post my picture.

Lucky Again

Once again I found a dollar bill on the side of the road while out on my early morning walk. I hope it keeps up.

Photosynth

Microsoft has recently made available a free software app called Photosynth that allows you to produce continuous images with 3D features from multiple still shots. It is quite amazing and you can learn more about it at: www.photosynth.net.

I have produced one and you can see it at:

However you will need to down load a reader to see it.

Department Cook-out

Here's my truck loaded up with grills, coolers full of food and all sorts of other stuff needed to cook for about 75 faculty, students and their families at our annual cook-out.

Democratic National Convention

This is a very enthusiastic Democrat watching the national convention coverage on our new TV.

However, Jazmine has a rather short attention span and quickly got bored with it. Following a big yawn she ran off.

Sculling on Homer Lake

I saw this group of scullers on Homer Lake early this a.m. getting in a workout. It was a very cool morning and steam was rising from the water.

IL Ave. Park Dedication

These are a few of the pictures from the IL Ave. Park dedication ceremony in East St. Louis. Ms Drake has worked for years to have this little piece of open space serve as a neighborhood park and now she has been formally recognized for all her hard work.

Obama in Poland

This is the first picture on my blog that I didn't take. However, I did bring the Obama t-shirt to Poland this summer and Pawel (Hania's brother) has been wearing it frequently and receives lots of comments from random folks.

Third Sunday Market

Each month in the summer it is fun to sell or buy at the Third Sunday flea market in Bloomington IL. This event is managed by Mike Raycraft one of the RST faculty.

Here's a link to my YouTube posting of a 3rd Sunday video:

Most creative person

This is Edna Petty, one of the most creative persons I've had the pleasure to meet. She is known mostly for her fabric art but dives into all kinds of other things as you can see with the giant turtle that was commissioned for the SIU-E campus

Lefties day

As the old saying goes, every dog has his day. Guess I'm a member of this minority.

Garlic

Here I am peeling home-grown garlic to preserve in olive oil for the winter soup making season.

Illinois Corn

After all the forecasts for a horrible harvest the USDA came out today and said it would be the second biggest on record. Go figure.

Lillies

One of my favorite flowers.

Want to buy a truck?

I saw all these unsold new pickup trucks in Bloomington and wondered who would ever buy one?

Memorial Stadium

A 100+ million dollar addition to Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois nears completion.
